There were military academies...
...and penguins (!)...
...and historical re-enactment societies...
... the horse and cart from Mt Vernon, followed by the street sweeping convoy!...
...there were clowns...
...and the obligatory pipe band...
... there was George Washington on his horse and his secret service detail... (this was a local renowned chili restaurant)
...there were guys with the American flag...
...and marching bands...
...and my favourite - the Alexandria Optimists Club...
...Stop! Don't shoot!...
